My name is Stephen D. Norman, and this is my website which contains information about my qualifications.
I am a senior at the University of Delaware studying for a B.S. in Business Administrations with a major in marketing and a minor in MIS, and I have a GPA of 3.44. I have five years experience in customer service, three years experience in marketing including search engine marketing and optimization, and two years experience in database management.
During the summer of 2008, I worked as a marketing intern for Brave New Markets, Inc, a full service marketing company in Owings Mills, MD. I was responsible for implementing and maintaining the SEO and SEM campaign for a company client. In addition to establishing and improving a successful pay-per-click campaign using Google Adwords, I improved the Google Pagerank for the company website from zero to two. I also optimized their organic search resulting in a jump from page 13 to page 3 for many valuable keywords. By utilizing my knowledge of HTML and Microsoft Expressions, I was also able to transform the company website from a couple of pages of text to a multi-dimensional, interactive website.
My experience at Brave New Markets, Inc. provided valuable experience in developing a well-rounded marketing campaign. I was involved in developing a corporate identity package to help the company client establish better recognition and exposure within their industry. I also assisted in designing and acquiring promotional items, developing content for the company brochure, and helping organize a tradeshow appearance, which included booth design and acquisition, a promotional contest and a pre- and post-show campaign.
In the summer of 2006 and 2007, I worked as an E-bay store manager for an industrial machinery sales company based in Baltimore, MD. My responsibilities included building and maintaining an E-bay store which brought over $50,000 in revenue, and is currently still thriving. I also created and implemented an access database containing over 3000 pieces of equipment, which helped organize the company inventory and improve overall efficiency.
During the fall semester of my freshman year, I worked for a telemarketing company in Newark, DE selling MBNA Privacy Assist to existing MBNA cardholders. I exceeded my personal sales quota of one sale per hour by ten sales on most shifts, and consistently made the most sales per day. Before beginning by college career, I worked as an optometric technician at the Doctors Office inside LensCrafters in Glen Burnie, MD for two years, and a store clerk at a local Baskin Robbins for three years. These positions gave me valuable experience in customer service and sales.
During my time in between classes I row for the University of Delaware Men’s Crew Club acting as the Vice President. I am responsible for overseeing club activities, assisting with finances, public relations and recruiting, as well as communications with the University administration. My responsibilities also include writing articles for the team website, and deigning and ordering new uniforms. I am also a member of the University of Delaware Blue Hen Marketing Club and the American Marketing Association.
I am proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Access, Excel, Publisher 2003, Expressions, Visual Basic, Google Adwords, and SPSS. I also have experience I with Dreamweaver & Adobe Photoshop, a basic understanding of HTML, ASP.Net, SQL Server, SQL and database management. During my undergraduate experience I have excelled in classes relevant to marketing and general administration such as consumer behavior, marketing research, international marketing, advertising, statistics, and economics.
Sincerely,
Stephen Norman
